Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the lung is a rare epithelial derived lung malignancy that has morphologic features suggestive of a malignant mesenchymal tumour (sarcoma).[1] It is a sarcoma-like lung carcinoma.

General

Gross

  • Mass lesion - typically upper lobe and peripheral location.[1]

Microsopic

Subclassified as:[1]

  • Pleomorphic carcinoma.
  • Spindle cell carcinoma.
  • Giant cell carcinoma.
  • Carcinosarcoma.
  • Pulmonary blastoma.
