Foregut duplication cyst is an uncommon benign anomaly of the foregut.

General

Microscopic

Features:

  • Varied lining epithelium[3] - may be one or combination of the following:
    • Respiratory-type epithelium.
    • Squamous epithelium.
    • Cuboidal epithelium.
  • Negative for atypia.

Esophagus (Submitted as “Esophageal Cyst”), Excision: 
- Compatible with cyst wall lined by respiratory-type epithelium. 
- NEGATIVE for malignancy.
